DexterCorner 2011 Roadmap/2010 Recap/Letter to Fans

Even though DexterCorner launched at the end of September last year, we had a fairly eventful 2010. Since DexterCorner’s launch, the site has been growing increasingly more popular, and has built up a great community. We want to give users an idea of what to get excited about, the direction we’re heading, and the expansion that will take place this year. Read the important article after the jump.

(Spoiler-Free) Advance Preview and Thoughts on the Season Six Premiere

As many of you may have noticed, the sixth season premiere of Dexter ended up leaking online about a week and a half before the official premiere date! Many chose to watch, many chose to wait – and no matter which you chose, I’m here to give you my advance thoughts on how it went down.

Top Ten Reasons You Should Be Watching Season Six

With the premiere of the sixth season of Dexter fast approaching, we figured it prudent to inform readers why exactly they should continue to watch Showtime’s hit series Dexter – and we’ve got some very strong reasons indeed.

Exclusive Pictures of a Dexter Filming with Colin Hanks

It seems that filming for season six of Dexter has been the series’ strictest and most-secretive to date. No fan filming of a Deb and Quinn investigation from afar has surfaced on the internet. No major premiere set or moment can be found online thanks to a fan, in contrast to last year.

However a tip regarding filming had led fan conniekt to the set’s location on Tuesday, who found out she would have to wait to her dismal but that vanished once she found out that it was because she would be lucky enough to get to watch a behind-the-scenes setup. Connie was able to take numerous pictures of Colin Hanks, who will be playing the main guest star (villain?) of season six, while he was preparing to be filmed. She was kind enough to share those along with an interesting look at the set with us.

According to Twitter, ‘Dexter’ Should Win at the Critics’ Choice TV Awards

Over the past week, we asked DexterCorner Twitter followers to tell us why Dexter should win “best drama series” at the Critics’ Choice TV Awards. Responses were strong and the extent was impressive. Check out a full-size mosaic compiled of Tweets sent to us after the jump.

New Season Six Video Promo “Renewed”

Today brings the first season six promo with new footage and voice-over, as Dexter ominously talks about how he is “renewed.” Watch it after the break.

Why ‘Dexter’ Deserves to Win Best Drama Series at the Critics’ Choice TV Awards

Note: I decided to make the following spoiler-free so anybody who has yet to fully catch up or is considering beginning the series can read as well.

Despite Dexter‘s ability to make drawing positive critical response and being nominated for award-after-award look like an effortless task, there is one category that practically every television awards show nominates Dexter for that it ends up losing: best TV drama series. To even be nominated, especially for so many awards and annually since its first season, is a huge feat in and of itself. However, the series is so close to the edge of finally winning the much-deserved award that it would be “murder” if Don Draper or Nucky Thompson takes home the nod instead yet again at VH1′s first annual Critics’ Choice TV Awards.

‘Dexter’ the Movie? Tons of Details Revealed

Well, this was unexpected: there has been talk of a Dexter movie in the works for May 2012. Reportedly, Showtime is looking to expand the series’ audience with a movie while the show is still ongoing. Even some plot details have surfaced. They are a little unbelievable and crazy, but the series is not a stranger to risks. Spoiler alert, read on at your own risk.

Firstly, Rita will be back. What? Her ghost will live on by Dexter’s side. Actually, all of his past victims have the potential to return as ghosts. Among those are assumed to be Brian, Doakes, and Trinity. Potentially gimmicky, potentially brilliant.

The plot will involve a big government conspiracy and cover-up. Are the days of our favorite anti-hero coming to a close? There would be at least another season or two after the movie, so it seems like the government’s involvement will remain a mystery and not culminate into anything too serious.

The movie will be released in RealD 3D, IMAX 3D, and 2D. I foresee tons of artistic stuff going on in 3D, which will be an interesting addition. Showtime is pushing for a PG rating to increase the ticket sales and audience sizes.

Ghosts and government conspiracies? It does not seem like these belong in the Dexter universe. Another thing that seems out of place is that Steve Carell and Will Ferrell will play major characters in the movie. It is not clear what direction the movie will take the show, but hopefully it can be consistent with the show’s quality within a two-hour movie. And hopefully we will get to hear Doakes profoundly say “psycho” and “motherfucker” one last time.

Just to clarify: As you can tell by the April 1 date, this article was indeed an April Fool’s joke.

East Fifth Bliss Advance Screening and Autographed Photos Contest

We are starting another contest in partnership with East Fifth Bliss tonight. This is a big contest, with a total of six exclusive prizes. Four people will win tickets to a special preview screening of East Fifth Bliss, an independent film starring Michael C. Hall about a man’s struggles with life and an almost forbidden new relationship, at the end of March. East Fifth Bliss is currently looking for a distributor for release, so this could be your only chance to see the film for months until it is released. Additionally, two people will win one of the autographed photos shown on the left. Both photos were signed in person by Michael C. Hall, who plays Dexter on the acclaimed Showtime series of the same name, and United States of Tara star Brie Larson.

Two people on the West Coast and two people on the East Coast will win tickets to an advance preview screening of East Fifth Bliss. All winners will have to be able to provide transportation to the screening themselves and confirm attendance immediately or a winner may be replaced by another contest participant. Any two people in the United States can win one of the two autographed photos. To enter, make sure to “like” East Fifth Bliss on Facebook. Entries will not count if the participant is not an East Fifth Bliss Facebook fan, so “like” the movie’s official page first. Then, you can enter through the page’s Sweepstakes tab for one entry.

You can get another two entries by following both DexterCorner and East Fifth Bliss on Twitter and Tweeting “#EFBMarch” (without the quotation marks obviously) to both Twitter accounts. There will be more opportunities to get additional entries, so look out for those.

Try to get in as many entries as possible before the contest ends on March 24 at 11pm PST for a shot at winning one of these fantastic prizes. You can find the full contest rules here. We would like to thank East Fifth Bliss for letting us run this contest. Tell as many people as possible about the movie and the contest!
